Scripture:
Jerimiah 9:23-24
23 This is what the LORD
says:
"Let not the wise man boast of his
wisdom
or the strong man boast of his
strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,
24 but let him who boasts boast
about this:
that he understands and knows
me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises
kindness,
justice and righteousness on
earth,
for in these I delight,"
declares the LORD.
Observation:
Wisdom, Strength and Riches. Three things that the world teaches us to seek, and there is nothing wrong with seeking them, it is the boasting about accomplishing them that is the issue. Why would you boast about something that is so temporary? I have met men that have all of these things, wisdom, strength and riches...but you would never know it because they do not wear it on their sleeve. What they boast is the love for God that they have, they KNOW Him, they understand Him...how excellent is that? Even more excellent is what God wants us to boast about... Understanding Him and knowing Him, that He is the Lord who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth. God wants me to know Him, He wants me to understand Him, all I have to do is ask, and then boast.
Application:
I know the Lord our God, but I want to get to know Him even better, I need to understand Him, so I will seek answers from God through conversations with Him and prayer.
Prayer:
Lord, give me understanding of what you are doing in my heart today, help me see the meaning and the solution that you are probably hanging right in front of my face and I just won't see it. Thank you for your kindness God. - Amen.
