Scripture:
Mark 8:37
37 Is anything worth more than your soul?
Observation:
This questions comes right after two seemingly unrelated events:
- Mark 8:29 - Peter understands and calls Jesus the Messiah
- Mark 8:33 - Jesus tells Peter to quit seeing from a human point of view
Application:
So the question stands, "What is worth more then your soul?" Jesus himself is looking you in the eye and asking that question. Anything? Peter, a political king? All the money? What on this temporary world is more important than your eternal soul?
Is one soul more important that any other?
If anyone has to help you answer those questions, go read Mark 8:27-38 until you are convinced in your heart what the answers are. Until you come to grip with those questions and they instinctivly come out of your life, someone else telling you the answer will lead to failure. Now I understand why Jesus taught in parables.
Prayer:
Lord, what a priceless payment you made for us. Sometimes the mud and trash in our eyes make that harder to see and act upon. Forgive me.
